An AVP workshop is for you if you want to improve how you handle conflict with other people. Whether you face conflict in the family, on the street, in your workplace or somewhere else, most people find that an AVP workshop helps. Most participants say they learn a lot about themselves and other people during the workshop.
[Due to child protection guidelines, community workshops are for those aged 18 or over only. Occasional workshops for younger people can also be arranged; please contact us to discuss this.]
In AVP workshops, participants learn from one another in small group exercises, fun activities, discussions and role-plays. We run two types of workshop: Level One and Level Two.
Level One workshops focus on:
After attending a Level One workshop, participants at Level Two explore the underlying causes of violence such as fear, anger, stereotyping, power, and powerlessness. They take a deeper look at ways of resolving conflicts, including communication, choice and forgiveness. Usually the participants choose the focus of the work in a Level Two workshop.
Some participants then attend more workshops and may train as volunteer facilitators.
Our workshops in the community usually begin on a Friday evening and finish on Sunday afternoon. There are usually around 10-15 participants and the sessions are run by a small team of trained facilitators. The cost ranges from £60 to £80, depending on where the workshop takes place, and concessionary fees are available. More details are provided on the booking form.
Light refreshments are provided; participants normally bring their own lunch or buy it locally. You don't need to bring anything else, just a willingness to participate.
